Let go.

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 What does it mean to let go?! This question has been coming to me over and over again this week! I've seen the saying "Let Go and Let God" so many times before, but this week it has shown up randomly in my life on more then one occasion. So really what does it mean to let go? When I think of this phrase a couple images come to mind but the one that seems to capture it at its most literal meaning plays out in the art of jumping. Whether it be jumping off a cliff into the ocean, bunging jumping off a bridge or skydiving out of a plane, there comes a point where a person must physically let go and allow themselves to embrace the falling and whatever else comes below. This is something we must do in life too! One wo

Beyond Comfortable!

“The world promises you comfort, but you were not made for comfort. You were made for greatness.” Pope Benedict XVI That moment right when the alarm goes off when you are barely awake and warm underneath big blankets, your head nestled on your favorite pillow! You are comfortable! But in a minute you'll have to take that dreaded first step out of your bed into the chill of a new morning and begin your day! That moment can usually never be described as comfortable. You're leaving the safety of a warm bed, sweet dreams, and peaceful sleep for a world of cold air, bad hair days, and real life problems. I can say with some certainty that most of us usually dread making that first step! But we do day in and day out. Why? Why do we force ourselves into that uncomfortable moment? We brave the elements and do it over and over again because we know that beyond that first awful moment of leaving our cozy beds there is something greater waiting. Maybe it's a warm cup of coffee, a n

Great Expectations.

5 My soul, wait in silence for God only,For my hope is from Him. Psalm 62:5 Expectations are our plans for what should happen. Disappointment is what results when these plans we have made for ourselves fall through. Have you ever had something so hyped up that when it actually happened you were left with the feeling of "well that was it." My friends and I have a small obsession with Panera Mac n cheese and the tendency to get overly excited about simple things like this. The other night we sent one of our moms there to get the famous Mac n cheese. She went expecting the most amazing meal of her life the way we described this cheesy bowl of happiness. Well guess what, she was unimpressed. It was unfair really we gave her great expectations of what this Mac n cheese would taste like and she didn't love it. That's the thing, we all need and want and expect different things but we sometimes get our expectations from each other and

What is love?

7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 By this the love of God was manifested [b]in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us. 1 John 4:7-12 From the day we are old enough to put on dresses and play house a girl dreams of her wedding day! I think it's part of the fantasy that one day you will find the man that will love you through thick and thin, protect you, stand up for you and keep you smiling even when life gets difficult. Its an odd thing, so much of my life I have spent longing for this love bu
